The Amazing Spider-Man
About
The Amazing Spider-Man is an action-adventure video game released in 2012, developed by Beenox and published by Activision. The game serves as a tie-in to the 2012 film of the same name, though it features its original storyline that continues after the movie's events. Players control Spider-Man as he swings through an open-world version of New York City, battling criminals and iconic villains like the Lizard and Rhino while facing Oscorp's mutated creatures. The game focuses on Spider-Man's web-slinging, combat, and exploration abilities. It has a mix of main missions and side activities. The gameplay includes stealth, brawler-style combat, and environmental puzzles.
Story
Serving as an alternate epilogue to the 2012 film, The Amazing Spider-Man returns to an open-world Manhattan some months after the movie's events. The uneasy calm shatters when a batch of cross-species experiments, born from Oscorp's continuation of Dr. Curt Connors' research, break loose across the city. The escaped creatures carry a deadly virus that begins to spread through the population, plunging Manhattan into a mounting biological crisis. As Spider-Man, the player must swing into action to contain the outbreak, teaming up with Gwen Stacy and the conflicted Connors in a race to develop a cure before the contagion overwhelms the city. Complicating matters is Oscorp's ambitious new chief executive, Alistair Smythe, who pursues a cure of his own to claim the glory of saving Manhattan while seeking to remove Spider-Man and Connors from the picture. Caught between spreading infection and corporate scheming, Spider-Man must protect a city on the brink.
